Please join our online Communion gathering this Sunday, June 7th. The Zoom gathering begins at 9:30am and Communion liturgy begins at 10:00am. Similar to our May online gathering, you provide your own bread and juice (or cracker and milk if available). You can connect using your computer or telephone, and the connection information is below.
Please join your congregation as we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion.
This will be my last pastoral letter until July, when I return from holidays and study leave. These are weeks I normally take in the spring time in smaller stretches, but the pandemic was the wrong time to be absent from the congregation. I am still available for pastoral emergencies, funerals, and the important June Council meeting. Moreover, I’ll record and post weekly sermons through June and ensure our Sunday Zoom gatherings continue. Otherwise, I’ll pause my administrative and regular pastoral duties. Hopefully, this will create a balance between the need for study/rest and the need to nurture congregational cohesion and worship life through June.
In closing, please remember to nurture your spirituality during this time of church closure. Set aside 20 minutes to listen to the online worship service (see below for Facebook and Dial-a-Sermon info). Show up on Sunday morning, even briefly online, to be the church in fellowship. The world is a challenging place to navigate alone. You are an important member of Strathroy United Church. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are not alone. We live in God’s world.
