I hope all of you are gearing up for Advent and Christmas because we are at Strathroy UC.
If you wish to help with the float please come to Tina Zimmermann’s home 430 Carroll St. E at 6:30 and call her at 245-0304 if you wish to ride on the float.
I have attached the Advent and Christmas brochure and the poster for the Star…movie day on Sunday Nov. 25th at 3 pm.
Many happy times happening at Strathroy United Church with baptism, communion this Sunday, Reign of Christ Sunday.

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE TEAM
Decorating for Christmas!: If you wish to help Tina decorate our church for Advent and Christmas please let her know or come to the church on Monday November 26th at 10 am.
Bulletins: Due to the cost of printing the bulletins the Church Council has decided that starting in January we will be streamlining them and utilize the screens for the service.
They will still have the order of service and announcements.
COMMUNITY LIFE TEAM
Sun. Nov. 25th – Movie Afternoon – “The Star”
Need a break? Looking for some true Christmas spirit?
Come watch “The Star” with us on Sunday Nov. 25 at 3:00 pm. A lively animated tale featuring the animals and their travels with the star.
Free will offering to go towards Camp KeeMoKee. Snacks available for $1.00 ea.
FRIENDSHIP CLUB CHRISTMAS POT LUCK:
The Friendship Club will be hosting the annual Christmas Potluck Luncheon to be held on Wednesday, December 5 at1:00 p.m., in the Golden Jubilee Room.

Please bring your favourite dish to share.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
Please bring an item for the WRRC instead of having a gift exchange. We will deliver the items to the centre that afternoon. Items for Moms or children, seasonal or every day, are appropriate. Thank you.

ENVELOPES AND PAR FOR 2019
If you are not using envelopes and wish to have them for 2019 please notify Dianne in the office. This is also a great time to take advantage of our PAR(Pre Authorized Payment) program , forms are available in the office and at the usher stations. Thank you, Dianne – 519-245-0276.
GENERAL FUND: This year our envelope givings have been a little lower than last year and we have had some urgent repairs needed to the building. At this time our church is in a deficit position of ($83,905). All donations to help reduce this sizeable deficit are greatly appreciated.
SPECIAL PROJECT: We thank an anonymous donor for the final payment towards our Sign. Our Special Projects fund is clear for 2018.
MISSION AND SERVICE: We have raised $12,915 towards our Mission and Service Objective of $20,000 for 2018.
COMPASSIONATE FUND & CHURCH MISSION FUNDS:
Twice a month in the winter time we offer $25.00 Food Basics Cards (4 per year per person)to those who are struggling to make ends meet. This service is offered during the months of Oct. Nov. Dec. Jan. Feb. and March on the second and third Thursday mornings from 9-12.
On the Fourth Thursday of the month we serve guests from our Community a Hospitality Meal. At our last meal we served 95 guests.
Through your envelope givings you have an opportunity to help both of these efforts to reach out to our community.
Compassionate Fund – Supports the Food Basic Cards
Church Mission Fund- supports of our Hospitality Meals.
ADVENT PROJECT 2018
This year for our Advent project we will be fillingAdvent bags with items for the Salvation Army and the Women’s Rural Resource Centre. Deadline is Dec. 20th The bags will come with labels attached with suggestions of items to put in them.
On Santa’s List are the following:
chapstick Toothpaste and brushes pajamas(any size)Hair Brushes and Combs slippers
Toiletries – deodorant, Shampoo, lotions
Underwear socks hats mittens Make up sanitary napkins/tampons journals.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2ND is WHITE GIFT SUNDAY
Suggested items are:
Toys Crayons/Colouring books
Pencil crayons toys decks of cards
stuffed animals puzzles small games puzzle books activity books
These items will also be divided between the Salvation Army and the WRRC. If you prefer to give money to either organizations please have it in an envelope marked for whoever you wish it to go to and they will submit you a receipt.

the “Community Christmas Carol Fest” on Sunday evening December 16 @ 7 p.m. at the Providence URC on Second Street. Please join us for singing and refreshments. Children are welcome!
