LIGHT A CANDLE

TO SUPPORT OUR VACANCY SEARCH TEAM

 

Rev. Abiel would like the congregation to light a candle in their homes every Wednesday evening at 7 pm for about 10 minutes until a new minister is selected. This shows our Search Team we support them and with the help of the Holy Spirit to guide them they will make the best selection of a minister for our church.

 

Family Prayers

This Sunday we ask you to pray This Sunday, December 2nd we give thanks and we pray for the Vision of a Church open not only to transition, but also to transformation.

Please keep Anne Pelkman, Barb Bett, Brian Stocco, and Evelyn Bryant in your prayers.

 

Prayer Circle Box

The Prayer circle group have supplied Prayer Request Cards that are completely confidential. At the back of the GJR you will find a locked wooden box with a slot for cards.

 

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE TEAM

Bulletins: Due to the cost of printing the bulletins the Church Council has decided that starting in January we will be streamlining them and utilize the screens for the service.

They will still have the order of service and announcements.

Children’s Choir

This is an open invitation to all children who would like to sing on the 4th Sunday of advent (December 23rd). We will have a rehearsal on Sunday, December 16th immediately following service in the parlor. We will also meet on the 23rd at 9am to prepare for

the service. Please feel free to contact Andy with any questions.

 

MEMORIAL FLOWERS

The Congregational Life Team, is requesting Poinsettia donations to assist with the decorating of the Sanctuary. They may be donated in memory of a loved one if you wish, and if this is the case could you plea se call Dianne at the office, by noon on Dec. 19, 2018 so the particulars can be shared in the bulletin.  We ask that you have the plants at the church on the Friday, December 21, in the am between 9 and 11 so that they are in place for that Sunday, and Christmas Eve. We also would ask that you take the plants with you following the Christmas Eve service.   If you have any questions please feel free to call the office.

COMMUNITY LIFE TEAM

SALVATION ARMY NEEDS FOR CHRISTMAS HAMPERS

If you prefer to bring in groceries the Salvation Army has given the following list of needs for their Christmas Hampers:Stuffing, pasta sauce small and large, small peanut butter, 1 & 2 L juice,  kraft dinner, boxed potatoes, canned veggies that is not corn, & sidekicks.                           

 

Christmas baking bargains – half price please see Marjorie after the service in the GJR.

 

 

Parlour Group:

The Parlour group will meet on Monday, December 10th at 11:45 in the Golden Jubilee Room. We will order in Swiss Chalet Festive Meals for lunch. Anyone able to attend please call Marie Robinson 519-245-1467 so we can have enough dinners ordered.

ADVENT PROJECT 2018

This year for our Advent project we will be filling Advent bagswith items for the Salvation Army and the Women’s Rural Resource Centre. Deadline is Dec. 20th The bags will come with labels attached with suggestions of items to put in them. On Santa’s List are the following:

chapstick      Toothpaste and brushes, pajamas(any size)Hair Brushes and Combs,  slippers, journals. Toiletries – deodorant, Shampoo, lotions Underwear    socks  hats  mittens Make up  sanitary napkins/tampons

 

Thank you to all who brought toys and monetary donations  for the White Gift Sunday. A special thank you to Ken Jolliffe who took two large boxes to the Salvation Army and 2 large boxes to the WRRC. There will be many happy children this Christmas.

 

Christmas letter went out by email this week and hard copies are at the back of the sanctuary for those who are not on our email list.

 

SALVATION ARMY KETTLE DRIVE

On November 30th members of our congregation helped with the SA kettles. They were successful in raising $2,914.25.

Major Wilson Nobel was very happy and thanks all who volunteered. He also noted that they are still in need of some volunteers so if you are able to do another time at the kettles please call him at 519-671-0002

FINANCE TEAM

 

ENVELOPES FOR 2019 ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF THE SANCTUARY THIS MORNING.

GENERAL FUND:  This year our envelope givings have been a little lower than last year and we have had some urgent repairs needed to the building. At this time our church is in a deficit position of ($83,905). All donations to help reduce this sizeable deficit are greatly appreciated.

 

SPECIAL PROJECT: We thank an anonymous donor for the final payment towards our Sign. Our Special Projects fund is clear for 2018.

 

MISSION AND SERVICE: We have raised $12,915 towards our Mission and Service Objective of $20,000 for 2018.

 

COMPASSIONATE FUND & CHURCH MISSION FUNDS:

Through your envelope givings you have an opportunity to help both of these efforts to reach out to our community.

Compassionate Fund – Supports  the Food Basic Cards

Church Mission Fund- supports of our Hospitality Meals.
