Prayer List. You can add names to the Prayers of the People during Sunday worship by adding a name to the prayer list book at the back usher table. Please include a first name only, and Brad will read the list of names for prayer during the worship service.
fellowship ministry
Hospital Visits. Please help Brad to know when you or your loved one is in hospital by calling the office at 519.245.0276
Pastoral Emergencies. Brad can be reached outside of office hours at 519.330.0074 for crisis care (deaths, hospitalizations). Please contact the church office for administrative matters.
Home Visits. Brad hopes to visit every household in the congregation. To schedule a visit, sign up for one of the times available on the easel at the back of the sanctuary or call Patti in the office at 519.245.0276
Prayer Requests. Prayer request cards are available at the back of the sanctuary and may be put into the Prayer Box. All requests are kept confidential and included in daily prayer.
Prayer Group. Would you be able to hold fellow members in daily prayer? We would love to have you join our group. We have very few meetings and communicate via email when a need arises. Please contact Joan Carter (519.247.3901) or Tina Zimmermann (519.245.0304) if you would like to join this ministry.
Rev. Derek Shelley. The Rev. S. Derek Shelly passed away in his home in Huntsville on Monday, November 11, where he had retired in 2018 after serving for many years as pastor at Trinity United Church. Friendship Club. Mark your calendars now!  It is nearly time for the annual Christmas potluck lunch, hosted by the Friendship Club.  It will be on Wednesday, December 4 at 12:00pm in the Golden Jubilee Room.  Everyone is welcome and no membership is required.  Please bring an item for the WRRC such as toiletries, gifts for mothers and/or children, or non- perishable food items. Second Sunday of Advent Carol Sing. Come before the service at 8:50am for a carol sing. All voices are welcome, across the generations.

Christmas Knitting Tree. Attention all knitters! Would you like to knit something to be donated to the Women’s Rural Resource Centre? If so, please speak with Barb MacKinnon (519.245.1370).  All yarn for this project will be donated by Barb.
Compassionate Funds Needed. Winter is here and with it comes increased need for the less fortunate in our community. We are asking the congregation for assistance in replenishing our Compassionate Fund so that we can purchase additional grocery cards.  Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
Soup & Roll Sunday. The next Soup & Roll Sunday will be Sunday, December 15 after the service.  We will be serving chili. Freewill offering to Mission and Service. Everyone welcome!

Children’s Worship. Our children’s worship program needs volunteers to lead and assist Sunday activities. Training is available. To learn more, please contact Johanna Richards (519.245.3469) or Brad Morrison.
Confirmation 2019-2020. Brad is organizing the confirmation program for the coming year. If you are grade 8 or older and interested in being confirmed (and learning what confirmation means), please contact Brad.
Kids Club. The next Kids Club will be December 15 at 1:00pm. This group is open to any child in JK up to Grade 5. There is no cost, but registration is required.  Please contact Kaeleigh Berdan (kaeleighb13@hotmail.com) to register.
Youth Night. The next Youth Night is scheduled for Friday, December 6 at 7:00pm. Come out for games, snacks, friends, community, and a great time! Open to youth in grades 6 to 12. Please contact Kaeleigh Berdan (kaeleighb13@hotmail.com) to register.
proclamation ministry
Fill a Bag. Advent is here!  Our project is “Fill a Bag” and we have plenty of labeled bags available.  Please choose one or several bags, fill it, and return it to the church no later than Sunday, December 15. The items collected will be divided between the Salvation Army and WRRC.  If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, cheques can be made out to either organization.  Thank you in advance from the Community Life Team.
Beer & Carols. Join us at the Rusty Wrench (9 Front St W, Strathroy) for this European tradition of gathering at the local pub for Christmas carols. Singing begins at 7:00pm, and you can book a table for dinner earlier in the evening. Admission is free and donations for the Women’s Rural Resource Centre will be collected (they are specifically in need of feminine hygiene products). Invite a friend!

Property Team Chairperson. Are you an organizer? The Property Team needs a leader to coordinate and encourage volunteers and staff. You do not need to be handy with repairs or tools. A description of responsibilities is available through the office. If interested, please speak with Jenn Steele (wynn5@rogers.com).

Broadview. Broadview magazine is a monthly publication about spirituality, justice, and ethical living. Strathroy United Church receives several copies which are available on the racks near the Maria St entrance. If you would like to receive your own copy, please contact the office at 519.245.0276 no later than Friday, December 6.

Victorian Christmas. On Sunday, December 7 from 10:00am to 4:00pm, take a step back in time and stroll the downtown streets of Strathroy as the merchants bring a Victorian Christmas experience alive. Features old fashion crafts and demonstrations on sidewalks, wandering musicians and carolers, horse and carriage rides, and a Santa hut!
YFC NERF Night. The next NERF Night for youth in grades 6 to 8 will be hosted Monday, December 9 at 6:30pm at Calvary Pentecostal Church. For more information, please email Dave Berdan at david.b@yfcstrathroy.com
Blue Christmas. Christmas can be a sad time for us as we deal with struggles or remember losses. Denning’s Funeral Home (32 Metcalfe St W, Strathroy) is hosting the Blue Christmas Service on Sunday, December 15 at 4:30pm. Please RSVP to Denning’s by calling 519.245.1023 if you plan to attend.
